The GP Educational Team facilitates and provides a series of courses aimed at stimulating GPs in their Continuing Professional Development as well as updating them on existing skills and knowledge.

The courses take place in a variety of venues and with a variety of duration.

Positive Mental Training - 27th March 2012 (pm only) and 15th May 2012 (pm only) at Southern House, Otterbourne. Must be available to attend both sessions.

COPD Masterclass - 8th May 2012 (all day), 26th June 2012 (pm only) and 25th September 2012 (pm only) at Southern House, Otterbourne. 1 x GP and 1 x practice nurse from each practice, must be available to attend all 3 sessions.

New Partners Event - 18th September 2012 (pm only), 16th October 2012 (pn only) and 4th December 2012 (all day) at Southern House, Otterbourne. For those who have become partners within thee last 5 yers, must be available to attend all 3 sessions.

Asthma Masterclass - 11th October 2012 (all day), 29th November 2012 (pm only) and 24th January 2013 (pm only) at Southern House, Otterbourne. 1 x GP and 1 x practice nurse from each practice, must be available to attend all 3 sessions.

Independently Organised Educational Events:

In addition to this there are weekly Lunchtime Meetings based at Aldermoor Health Centre, Bitterne Health Centre, Hedge End, Romsey, Forest Gate and Lymington (not all are on a weekly basis).  These meetings are informal, lively and interactive.

In addition to the central and locality courses a lot of activity takes place within the practices.  This is normally practice specific but occasionally practices are willing to allow other GPs to attend their meetings.

Funding:
Most courses run by the GP Educational Team are underwritten by the Wessex GP Educational Trust (WGPET).  Details of this scheme are available on the WGPET website www.wgpet.co.uk  For non-members of the Trust there maybe a charge but these will be explicit on every advertisement for the course.
