Course Format
Hospital Posts:
Each post is 6 months long and is educationally approved and relevant to General Practice.  The posts are based at Southampton General Hospital (SUHT), Royal South Hants Hospital (RSH), Lymington Hospital, Moorgreen Hospital and the Woodhave Hospice.  Not to forget our trainees on Jersey!

All trainees will spend 6 months in a General Practice during the ST2 year, ideally in the practice they will be based in for ST3.

  • Medicine
  • Haematology & Oncology
  • Psychiatry - Old Age & Adult
  • Dermatology
  • Paediatrics - General & Community
  • Accident & Emergency
  • ENT
  • Neuro Rehab
  • Palliative Care
  • GUM / CASH
During each post trainees will have a Clinical Supervisor (ususally the supervising Consultant) to help direct learning and develop a personal development plan, as well as complete the 6 monthly clinical supervisors report.  Further information on how to get the most out of the hospital specialty is under the 'Curriculum' menu.

General Practice:
All ST2 trainees are allocated to a Trainer and training practice.  Trainees spend 6 months during their ST2 year and their full ST3 year in General Practice.  The Trainer will be your Educational Supervisor in ST2 & 3.  During the ST1 year you will be assigned an Educational Supervisor from the GP Education Unit Team.
