Can I work as a Locum in other Specialties during my GP Training?
It is unusual to do any outside work whilst training to be a GP. If you wish to
(for financial reasons), it must be with the agreement of your Educational
Supervisor / Trainer, and must have no impact on your training. This means
you cannot work during a normal working week or overnight on Sundays,
and it must not contravene the European Working Time Directive.
What expenses can I claim for as a GP Trainee?
Removal expenses, car use, telephone costs etc can be partially reclaimed
as a GP Trainee. See link below for full details and discuss with your
Practice Manager.

When do the CSA and AKT Exams take place?
The CSA is held in September, November, January and May every year
at the RCGP Examination Centre in Croydon. The AKT is held in local
venues in January, April and October every year.
There is a Wessex RCGP exam training course (3 days CSA, 1 day AKT)
held in Portsmouth every October and May which is partially funded for
Wessex Trainees.
How do I apply for my CCT at the end of training?
The GMC registers Doctors to practice medicine in the UK and are
responsible for certifying Doctors for entry onto the GMC GP Register.
There are two routes to inclusion on the GP Register:
Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) - this is awarded to Doctors
who have completed a full GMC GP Approved training programme
Certificate Confirming Eligibility for GP Registration (CEGPR) - this is
awarded to Doctors who have not followed the standard CCT route and
would like to include training undertaken overseas or non-approved GP
training posts.
Do I need an appraisal at the end of my Training year?
Yes. Your Trainer, or another Trainer in the practice if you prefer, will
ask you to look at the year ahead and using the framework for the GP
Appraisal, produce a Form 4 (PDP) for the year ahead. This will normally
occur in month 11 or 12 of your ST3 year.
