GPwSI

If you have training in another specialty that you’d like to continue using or wish to develop specialist skills within the community setting then you might consider becoming a GP with a Special Interest (GPwSI). A number of frameworks have been defined by the RCGP to help practitioners develop and maintain the specialist knowledge and skills required for particular roles.

Examples include Cardiology, Substance Misuse, Dermatology, Endoscopy, Palliative Care and Headache, but the possibilities are much broader than this list might suggest (there are currently local GPwSI in Ophthalmology, Cardiology, Dermatology and the Musculoskeletal Service).

More information can be found on the Royal College of General Practioners website.
