Park and St Francis Surgery - Join Our Team as a Salaried GP in Chandlers Ford, Hampshire

Location: Park and St Francis Surgery, Chandlers Ford, Hampshire.

Sessions: 4 sessions per week

Park and St Francis Surgery is looking for a friendly enthusiastic GP to join our team of seven GP partners and three salaried GPs who together look after a practice on 16,400 patients across one main and one branch site. We have a lead GP list holding approach to maintain good clinical care.

We are a thriving training and research practice, with high QOF achievement and rated “Good” after the last CQC visit.

The practice has a very good working relationship with the other local GP surgery (Fryern Surgery), and together, forms the Chandlers Ford Primary Care Network (PCN).

We have an on-site pharmacy team, ANP, musculoskeletal practitioner, mental health team, social prescriber and care coordinators.

In addition to the local Network, we are shareholders of “Tri-locality-care” an organisation formed to deliver some of the Local enhanced services that provide additional clinical time and evening working.

How we work:

  • EMIS Web system
  • Appointments are handled by AI triaging (Rapid health) and nurse triaging.
  • Practice designed EMIS protocols to handle workload- referrals, joint injections, EOLC medications and others.
  • Daily morning coffee breaks for clinical discussions and peer support
  • Training practice for GP registrars.
  • Monthly ‘lunch and learn’ with a local consultant

The Job:

  • Currently seeing 12x patients per session
  • Admin and catch-up slots – individual preference
  • Monthly GP partner and salaried GP meetings.
  • No evening or weekend commitments
  • Pro- rata duty and not on set days
  • 6 weeks’ annual leave, 1 week study leave
  • Work laptops (if wanted)

Local Area

Chandlers Ford is a small town situated between Southampton and Winchester, it has excellent local schools and colleges, the motorway and rail networks allow efficient travel to London and other major UK cities. Southampton airport is less than a 10-minute drive from the surgery and has direct flights to several European cities.

There are many outdoor leisure activity opportunities afforded by our proximity to the New Forest and South Downs National Parks, as well as several beaches, plentiful sailing opportunities and the Unesco registered Jurassic Coast, all within easy reach.

Job Role:

To provide high-quality, evidence-based, patient-centred medical care to the registered list population in accordance with NHS guidelines and local practice policies. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to ensure the delivery of efficient and effective healthcare services.

Key Responsibilities:

Clinical Duties

  • Conduct face-to-face, telephone, and video consultations, diagnosing and treating a wide range of health conditions.
  • Provide chronic disease management (e.g., diabetes, asthma, hypertension).
  • Undertake home visits and urgent care as required.
  • Prescribe medications in line with current guidelines and manage repeat prescriptions.
  • Review and act on laboratory and investigation results.
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date patient records using the clinical system.

Administrative Duties

  • Complete referrals, sick notes, medical reports, and other administrative tasks as required for patients on your patient list or for whom you have assumed clinical responsibility.
  • Participate in the management of workflow including document processing.
  • Support Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF) targets and local Enhanced Services.
  • Assist with safeguarding and contribute to clinical audits and quality improvement projects.

Team Collaboration

  • Participate in clinical meetings, MDTs, and case reviews.
  • Provide clinical support to nursing and administrative staff.
  • Collaborate with allied health professionals (e.g., pharmacists etc.

Professional Development

  • Maintain CPD and revalidation requirements in line with the GMC and RCGP.
  • Participate in appraisals and annual reviews.
  • Attend relevant training and practice educational sessions.

Person Specification:

Criteria Essential Desirable
GMC Registration with licence to practise  
Included on the NHS England GP Performers List  
Post CCT holding MRCGP or equivalent completion of training qualification  
Excellent clinical knowledge and communication skills  
Experience in primary care
